End of Year Idea

I know I have been MIA for a long while. I can't promise I am back full force, but I do want to share a fun activity my students completed today as an end of the year idea.

My principal gave me this idea last week and I ran with it.

On Monday students traced each other on large butcher paper. Wish I had photographed this.
They were comical

Then they colored and decorated themselves. I hung them all over the room.
Let me just say 5th graders are really long.

Yesterday, they had a sub while I played the role of "Mom" on a 4th grade field trip with my middle child. Students completed a sheet with every classmates name on it. They had to write a compliment for each person.

Example: Mary is smart and helps her friends.

Today, they took those compliments and wrote them in marker on each persons drawing.

It was chaos for a while, but I know they liked reading what others said about them.

We rolled them up and they took them home. I hope they share them with their parents tonight! I know, I would love to see what other kids said about my own child.

I also wrote something on each child's person.
I signed mine. I did not require students to sign their name, but most of them did anyway.

Just a few samples

We have 4 1/2 days left.
Hope you are close to summer as well.
The end is near...
