5 for Friday-September 5th

Completing my second week of school and I am so stinking exhausted.

It's not just school, it's LIFE!

My plate is so full, it overfloweth.

I thrive in these times though. I need schedules to keep me on my toes.
But, I will admit, I stretched myself THIN this week.

Thankful for Doodlebugs to share this week with you.

Here's my 5
I had my second Donor's Choose grant funded this summer. This one was fast. I posted it on one of their "match" campaigns. This is where every donation is matched by another. It was quick and easy.

I decided I want to use more literature in my middle school classroom, so I hopped on Amazon one day and just started perusing. I found GREAT STUFF!!!

Look at all the goodies I got!!!!

Most of you are not old enough to know this girl's face.
She starred in The Wonder Years in the late 80's and early 90's.

Well, she is all grown up and writing
books about MATH!!!
I want to show girls that Math is not just for boys!!!

 Love, love, love this series!!!
My students love them too!

I can't wait to use all of them!

My passion for notebooking has led me to be a part of this great blog hop.

Be sure to click on over and see some GREAT writing about how to use interactive notebooks in your class. (ALL SUBJECTS INCLUDED)

Facebook
I left Facebook over a year ago.
Long story.
But, I am back on for my blog and business.
Take a look when you are clicking around

I filled in my calendar this week when I received soccer AND baseball schedules for TWO children.
I am exhausted just looking at it.
I am still trying to figure out how to divide myself to be at Open House and baseball games on September 25th.
And lastly, I am part of a HUGE bundle sale at Educents. This is my first one and it was a monster for me.
I am not as technically savvy as I like to think. I will tell you, I have learned A LOT this week.
Plus, I truly believe in these products and the ladies who have created them.
Are you a middle school teacher? Do you know one?
Do not let them miss this awesome deal

Happy Friday!

Five for Friday- January 24th

We are home today with the ice. YUCK! I was really hoping for a late start, not a whole day! Oh well. I mine as well make it productive!

Last week, I shared my integer flippable. Jennifer from 4mula Fun shared it on Facebook and people are interested in it. So, I added it to my TpT store.

We only had school three days this week. I was only there 1 full day and 2 half days. What a week!
My 8 year old got his cast removed one day. YEA! Two shoes again!

He also has an ear disease and we saw a new doctor this week. The news was not good. He will have to endure another surgery. Plus, it was determined that he has no hearing in his left ear. We knew this, but his audiogram proved it. I know this could be worse, I just need to put it out there. It's hard to be the parent of a young child who has to endure stuff like this. It isn't fair, but it is what it is. I am so proud of him and he handles things. We are running a marathon, I just have to remember to keep a good pace.

In the short time I was at school, we did A LOT!
 Algebraic Expressions
We made two new folded notes this week.

My students played the Algebraic Expressions Match I made for this unit.

I am determined for this to be a fun unit. It has not been a great unit for me to teach.
This year is going to be different.
Students playing concentration with the cards.

Students playing the board game. I loved how much they actually liked it.
The students also completed the matching worksheet that goes along with this game.

Off to make the rest of my Friday off productive! Be sure to link up with Doodle Bugs for 5 for Friday, always a fun linky party!

Friday, after a long first week back

It's been a long four day week with kids. We started off the week in the 20's. I know, not cold for some of you, but here in Central Texas, it is! Today though, it 63 and tomorrow we are predicted to be in the 70's. Don't hate too much, we will be cold again next week. This is how we live in Texas.... up and down... hour to hour...

This is not a weather blog, so let me move on.

It's FRIDAY!!!!! Here's my 5 for the week!!!!

1

RAIN
Along with the warmer temperature, we have rain, and I mean a lot of rain. This is what I wore to school this morning.
I love them and don't get to wear them often so I didn't mind.

2
PROBABILITY
This week I am continuing probability with my advanced students and starting it with my regular students. I love this unit because it is fun. Cards, dice, spinner, you can't go wrong. I loved all the resources I had available to me as well.
We made this foldable in my advanced classes.

3
Combinations
We made this foldable in my regular class. I used the FREE Hot Chocolate Math I got from here

4
Twister
My classes used Twister Probability I found last year from Middle School Survival Guide to determine if the game is fair or not. Just a great fun, relaxing Friday activity. I gave them a Twister board to use, but some of them wanted to spin the one they colored on their paper.

5
Schedules
It has been a bit of fruit basket turn over round here as well. In middle and high school, schedules change at semester. I am a year long class though. I have the same students since I am the only advanced teacher for sixth grade, but the make up of my classes has changed drastically. I am not really complaining about this because they are more evenly divided now. But, what they looked like on Tuesday is not how they look today. The changes have been non stop. I am ready for it to end though. I still write names in a grade book and then input them in the computer. (old habits are hard to break) But I don't want to write the names down until I am sure they won't change. I hate when the names are not in order of the computer grade book. When I do enter them, I like to go down the line. When a new kids comes in or someone leaves, I get discombobulated. Wow, that was a rant, wasn't it. Sorry.

Don't forget about the DAILY giveaways over at Head Over Heels and Fourth Grade Flipper. They are spotlighting some wonderful bloggers and the prizes are awesome!!
