And now to Spark some Motivation with our kiddos.
Head over Heels for Teaching with Joanne, hosts this weekly linky.
This was the first week of school and I am completely exhausted. So, I am going to keep this simple.
Music motivates my students. So, one of the things I use as a reward is playing music while they work in stations. I use my play lists. I also use Pandora and I heart music in my class.
Kids love it and they actually work.
I also use you tube videos in my class. I like for the kids to see what other students create.
One of our schools' favorites is Teach Me How To Factor. Our Algebra kids sing it all the time.
Mr. Duey is one of my students' favorites!
Did you know there's a You Tube for Teachers?

I searched middle school math songs and a gazillion videos popped up. Okay, maybe not a gazillion, but a lot! I think this will be a great resource to make learning fun for my students.
I'm so excited to have a class this year that loves music!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing about redditgifts. I will have to check it out.

Music is a huge motivator! Does Pandora have a clean station? I listen to it all the time after school and I can't remember hearing inappropriate language, but I was curious to see what station you type in. Thanks for sharing and linking up friend! I'm going to check out the gifts!

DeleteI started using a Jack Johnson Kids station on Pandora. They also have Kidz Bop. I agree with Lorna too...you can also create your own playlist on Grooveshark. I let the kids give me ideas for songs and then I check the lyrics just to be sure they are okay before adding them. Our tech set-up has the ability to plug in our iphones/ipods, which is nice too.
DeleteElizabeth,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the reminder for RedditGifts Teacher exchange. I just signed up to donate.
